Small White Teardrop Earrings
Simplicity at its best. These drop earrings are a perfect statement and can be worn every day or for a special occasion.
They were fired using the raku technique where they were heated up to 1000c and removed from the kiln whilst glowing red. They were then added to combustibles (wood shavings and paper), allowed to burn for a but and then covered to put them into a reduction atmosphere. What emerges is the crackled white glaze with smoky highlights. To finish it off, and to show off the crackle in the glaze, I’ve added some black India ink to the surface and wiped it back. The ink enters the crackles and produces the effect you see.
